First build in 1924, the barn was more than a building it was a place where hard work, family and generations of farm life came together.

In the early 1940s, a powerful storm swept through the area, damaging the front end of
the barn. The barn was then partially reconstructed, changing its shape and character.

In 1953, the farm became the home of John and Alice Skjerven. From that time forward, the barn stood as an important part of their working farm and remained at the
heart of farm life for nearly half a century. Through the changing seasons, long days of work, celebrations, challenges, and countless family memories, the barn quietly witnessed generations of life on the farm.

In 2018, the Skjerven Barn was lovingly restored and given a new chapter in its story. The side ramp and large doors leading to the hayloft were put back in. Today, it serves
as a beautiful venue for weddings and special events, while preserving the charm and spirit of its farming past. Its traditional-style hayloft offers visitors a glimpse into
another time—a time when horses hauled hay, families worked the land together, and a barn was much more than a structure.
